Volkswagen Rabbit Dash Lights Q. Dear Vincent: 1985 Volkswagen Rabbit Cabriolet. Dashboard lights are not functioning. At night, it is a complete black out. Any advice, even having to do with the removal of the instrument panel would be appreciated. Thank you, Mark

A. I would check all the fuses before I started tearing things apart. As for removing the Instrument cluster, well, I don't think ALL the bulbs burnt out at the same time.

I would think the dimmer portion of the headlight switch is not working. Check for power at the gray/blue and gray/red wires at the headlight switch connector. If there is no power then the headlight switch will need to be replaced.
