Dodge Shadow Fuel Problem
Q. I have a 1991 Dodge Shadow with a 2.2 liter non turbo TBI engine. It's a five speed with 151,000 miles on it. It's fuel injected throttle body without ABS breaks and has P/S with rack and pinion. The other day I replaced the tank and fuel pump in it because one day I couldn't get it to run over 1,500 rpms.
It ran great for about seven hours after I replaced the tank and fuel pump. Then it started acting up again. It will start doing this after about eight minutes of running, then it sounds like it's flooding out, but no smoke comes out of the exhaust. Do you think you can help me?
Thanks,
RomanA. The answer is easy, just replace the fuel pump and fuel tank every seven hours. What? Can't do that? Oh well, it was worth a try.
I would do a fuel pressure test to see what's going on. You may have a bad fuel pressure regulator. I would also scan the computer for codes and check that the injectors are working properly and that it has a good spray pattern.
