Jetta Alarm System

Q. Hello, I have a 1995 Jetta VR6, 200,000 kilometers.

Problems:
1) Intermittent buzzing from dash area (not everyday).
2) Alarm will activate itself while car is running! Causing alarm to sound when door is opened. (not pretty when dropping off friends at 2:00 am).

I believe my alternator is not producing enough voltage, therefor activating alarm system. I think the buzzing is coming from devices that need more voltage.

Any thoughts?
Mark

A. While that is a possibility, I don't think it's the cause of the problem here. The problem is most likely in the hood switch being mis-adjusted. I have seen them both keep the alarm from activating and deactivating.
