Chevy Astro Van Fan Clutch Removal Q. Hi Vince, Once again I must ask for help. My 1998 Chevy Astro Van needs its water pump changed, however it seems the fan clutch is threaded on the water pump shaft and I can't get it loose. The Haynes Manual I use didn't say a thing about it so I am at a loss as to how to remove it. Help PLEASE? Thanks in advance...

A. There is a special tool that holds the pulley while turning the large nut on the fan clutch. You should be able to wedge a pry bar in between two of the pulley bolts to hold it while putting a large adjustable wrench on the nut. It unscrews counterclockwise
