Stuttering Ford Crown Victoria

Q. Hi, I recently bought a used 1994 Ford Crown Victoria. After several months of use I have noticed at various speeds that the engine will "stutter", it almost feels like it bogs down and then no more problems for about three days and all of a sudden it will happen again. I changed the spark plugs and wires and also the fuel filter, got high mileage oil and an oil change.

Also a PCV valve replaced and the air filter too. It seems as though it's 90% better but then it will do it again, not quite so often, but it still does it. Should I change the EGR valve? Or what in the world could this be?

A. It could be the EGR valve causing the problem. But before I go ahead and replace it, I would disconnect the vacuum line going to it and plug it. Then drive it for a few days and if the problem is gone, you know for sure it's the EGR.
