Getting Gas Out Of A Gas Tank

Q. I need to repair a small hole in the top of the gas tank and the tank is full of gasoline. How can I siphon the gas out? I tried a tube, but can't get to the gas, must be a safety device stoping me.

Getting Gas Out Of A Gas Tank

A. You can remove the line from the inlet of the fuel filter and remove it from the metal line on the body. Add a longer hose and you will be able to siphion it from there. If it won't start, remove the fuel pump relay and jump the fuel pump contacts. This will pump the fuel out of the tank.

Be very, very careful when doing this. If an ignition source were present, fuel from a disconnected fuel filter fitting could result in a fire.
