Squeaking Chevy S-10

Q. Hi Vin. I have a 1994 Chevy S-10, 2WD. I have a constant squeak when I am driving. When I apply the brakes, it goes away momentarily, then returns. This is at all speeds. I activated the rear brakes by emergency brake, and the noise was still there. I replaced the rear pads etc.. in August 2002.

Thanks,
Gary

A. There are little metal wear indicators on most front brake pads that when they are low enough to touch the rotor, will make this noise. Try checking the front pads for wear. If they are not touching the wear sensors, it could be just high metallic content of the front pads or a caliper starting to stick on slightly.
