Dodge Colt Grinding Noise

Q. I have a question about a 1991 Dodge Colt it has 102,000 miles and runs like a top (usually), Never missing an oil change or service when needed. My question is when I start my car and turn the wheel slightly and pull out of the driveway there's a grinding noise, this noise stops after I drive about 10-15 feet. This only happens in the morning or if it has been sitting for a long period of time.

I have had the transmission oil changed and filter changed now three times, and the problem still persists. Do you think that I have major transmission problems?

Thank you,
Rick

A. This is one I would have to listen to to determine with any reasonable accuracy what the problem may be. Somehow I doubt it's a transmission problem, more like a problem with a CV joint or brake caliper. I would also take a look at the dust shields around the rotors to see if there is a rock or some other foreign matter stuck between the rotor and shield. Since you say it happens when you turn the wheel, I'm betting it's a CV joint.
