Comanche Lighting Problems

Q. I have an electrical problem with a 1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator. The Problem: When I turn the Parking Lights or Head Lights on, the Left Front (Drivers Side) parking light and side marker will not come on. The Left Turn Signal Light on the Dash is on. If I turn the Turn Signal Switch to Left (Down) the light on the dash goes out and the Parking Light and the Side Marker Light comes on.

Turn Signal Switch back to Middle position and Parking and Side lights go back off. When the Truck is running, all turn signals work, tail lights work, head lights work and THEN only the right front parking light and side marker light works. I have the Dash taken apart, the Steering Wheel is off, the Turn Signal Switch is now removed (Looks okay nothing burnt or touching brass terminals), Replaced the Head light switch, took the front of the truck apart wiring looks good, fuse block is in good shape. I have a multi meter and have no idea where to start. I bought this Jeep New in Dec 1989.

Please any help you could give.

A. This usually happens because there is a bad turn signal/hazard switch. The fact that you seem to have eliminated almost everything else would tend to confirm this as the culprit. Sometimes moving the turn signal lever around will restore normal operation for a short while. If it does then it is definitely a bad turn signal switch.
