Q. The four wheel high and low drives work as does the steady glow of the indicator light. Do you have any theories? I will appreciate any light you could shed on this.

AllanA. The flashing light indicates there is a problem. There are a number of causes for the flashing light that I could list for you. Such as the transfer case electric clutch or the clutch circuit. But I can't tell you which is more common than the other. The best thing to do to pin point the problem is to hook up a scan tool to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) and that will pin point the problem.
Since the system is vacuum operated, you can check all of the vacuum lines to make sure they are hooked up and in good shape. You could very well find the problem is a vacuum line that fell off.
