Ford Ranger RABS Light On
Q. Mr. Ciulla: I have a 1993 Ford Ranger XLT. Recently my ABS light comes on and stays on. Also, the parking brake light comes on once in a while then goes out. Could these two things be related? I have read some of the other pages on this site and figured out how to read the ABS codes on my truck. I found a 12 fault code.
I reset the codes then drove it for a while…the same thing happened and I got the same code again. What does that particular code mean and what should be cone to repair the problem? Anything will help.
Thanks,
GeorgeA. The red brake light is most likely indicating the brake fluid in the brake Master Cylinder is low. So the first thing to do is check the fluid level.
The yellow Rear Anti-Lock Brake System (RABS) light flashing code 12 is, more often than not, a wiring problem. So I would suggest checking the wiring from the rear RABS sensor to the front and make sure it is in good shape. If the wiring looks good, then you will need to let Ford look at it and pinpoint the problem.
