Two Eagle Talon Problems

Q. Hi, I own a 1994 Eagle Talon, it has been running really well until about three weeks ago. When I leave in the mornings it doesn't seem to want to make the first shift (automatic transmission). After it shifts the first time it is fine until it sets for a while.

Two Eagle Talon Problems

Also, I started it about a week ago and it shut off and would not start back up until I gave it full gas and held it for a while, almost like it wasn't getting any gas.

It did the same thing yesterday also. I have never ran the car completely out of gas and I don't know if the two problems are related. Could you please give me some idea if this could be simple or should I be worried. The transmission fluid is fine.

Thank you for your time,
Missy

A. I don't think the two problems are related. Rather two separate problems. As for the transmission, I feel this is just a partially clogged transmission filter. I would recommend a transmission filter and fluid change and most likely that will fix the cold shifting problem. Don't get a transmission flush, just a filter and fluid change.

As for the starting problem, you will need to do a fuel pressure test to determine what is going on. It might be the beginnings of a bad fuel pump.
