Flashing A Pontiac Transport
Q. I am trying to check the codes on my 1994 Pontiac Transport mini-van 3.8 liter engine. The Haynes manual says to put a jumper wire across terminals "A" and "B" and the check engine light will start blinking out the codes. The problem I have is that my ALDL has only four terminals populated. They are "A", "J", "K", and "M".
"A" wire is black with white stripe. "J" wire is green. "K" wire is purple. "M" wire is orange. Is their another way I can retrieve the codes from my computer, or are the wires possibly in the wrong location on my ALDL plug?
A. A 1994 is right on the boarder line of being able to "flash" codes. If you are trying this at the factory ALDL connector it should be under the drivers side of dash below steering column. You may not be able to flash codes on this vehicle. Let someone scan it for you to see if it gives you data. This is the only way to tell if you've got the correct connector.
