Honda Accord Radio Fades In And Out
Q. Dear Sir, are you aware of electrical problems with 1989 Honda Accords? I was hoping you could help me isolate a problem. My radio, the same one that came with the car, will sometimes turn off by itself. The volume slowly drops and the radio shuts off without being turned off, as though the power died out.
But then I can turn it on again sometimes and it will play normally for about a minute or two, sometimes longer and then turns off on it's own again.
I don't know if it is a part of the same problem, but sometimes the clock will also not turn on when the car is started. Sometimes it turns on when it is hit lightly on the face of the clock display. Any idea what the problem might be?
Thanks for the help. This is a really cool service you offer!
ZeinA.
The clock and radio both feed off fuse #11 and ground to the metal bracket behind the radio. I would try replacing fuse #11 and see if that helps. If not then you will have to check the wiring between the fuse and radio. You will need to remove the radio to check the grounds behind it.
