Thunderbird Intermittent No Start

Q. Hi Vincent, I have a 1992 Ford Thunderbird LX, 3.8 EFI V-6 automatic transmission, 59,000. I have a problem at times with the car not starting, night or day, hot or cold, it has happen about five times in two weeks, the rest of the time it starts fine and runs fine.

As I open the door the dome and door lights are on, as I turn the key to run position all warning/check lights are on, as I turn to start the car all power is cut dead, if I wait with the key in run position for less then a minute all goes back on and will start?? The battery seems fine.

Thanks for any help.
Mike

A. The three things I would have to look at first is the ignition switch, the battery and the starter motor. I would do a load and cell test on the battery and a current draw test on the starter. If they do check out good, then the next thing to check would be the ignition switch.
