Dodge Omni And Bench Bleeding

Q. Hello, Thank you for reading this as I know you most get a ton of e-mails. I recently put new brake lines and a master cylinder on my 1988 Dodge Omni. I didn't bench bleed the master because my theory was it would be flowing just the same with it on and the brake booster pumping it through the master cylinder and through all the lines.

Dodge Omni And Bench Bleeding

Although when I went to bleed the brakes I got no pressure. The brake pedal just went to the floor over and over. Do I really need to bench bleed the master cylinder, or did Autozone sell me a faulty or wrong master cylinder? Thanks again for your time and any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Aaron

A. Bench bleeding is an absolute necessity. If you do not bench bleed it, you will never get a pedal and you will pump air throughout the brake hydraulic system.

I didn't think there were any of those little porkers around anymore.
