Grand Cherokee Lighting Problems

Q. Vince, I have a very simple question and hopefully you have a very simple fix. I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo 5.2 V-8 with about 100,000 miles. The question I have is this; all electrical systems seem to be working fine but the back up lights do not want to come on when I put into reverse.

Also the turn signal seems to blink really fast at times, can you help me with these small problems.

Thanks...

A. I'm assuming you have an automatic transmission in this car. The back up lights and turn signal lights are two completely separate circuits. So I would say you have two problems. The back up lights not coming on may be due to a bad or mis-adjusted Neutral Safety Switch. Check for power at the bulb sockets. If there is none then it is the NSS or the wiring.

The turn signals blinking fast is most often caused by a burnt out bulb on the side the fast blinking is on. I would check all the turn signal bulbs and make sure they are good. If they are and you still have the fast blinking, replace the Turn signal flasher unit under the dash.
