Nissan Pathfinder Alarm System
Q. Vincent, I recently wrote you about my 1996 Nissan Pathfinder and that it had the blower resistor motor that went bad on it. You sent me the perfect diagram and how to change it quickly and inexpensively. THANK YOU!
I DO HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION FOR YOU. Same truck that we are talking about:
1996 Nissan Pathfinder
3.3 liter V-6
Automatic transmission
84,000 milesHere's my dilemma that I HOPE you can help with. I drove home from work yesterday and went inside, came out about an hour later and I must have inadvertently set off the anti theft security system. I cannot start my truck now, have no power to anything (windows, etc.), I have NOTHING. Please HELP. WHAT DO I DO? I need your expertise here and need it ASAP so that I can at least start my truck. I have replaced the batteries to my keyless remote and changed the battery in the engine as well thinking that might be the problem. This will be good for winter anyhow, but...
A. The alarm system in the Pathfinder can be very difficult to troubleshoot without the Nissan CONSULT tester. But there are some basic tests we can do to eliminate the simple possibilities.
First thing we can do is check for power and ground. For the power supply you check it with the connector disconnected.
Terminals Ignition Switch Position + - OFF ACC ON 1 GND Battery

Voltage11 GND 0 Volts 0 Volts Battery
Voltage17 GND 0 Volts Battery

VoltageFor the ground side:
Terminals Continuity 10 and ground Yes

If the power and grounds check out okay, then I would try swapping the Anti-Theft Relay with another relay.

If swapping the relay doesn't do it, then you have to check each door, hood and hatch switch to make sure they are good.
If all this fails then you have done all you can without the CONSULT and the dealer will have to look at it.
