Blazer Shuts Down
Q. Dear Mr. Vincent, Could you please help me? I have a 1987 S-10 blazer 4x4 that has a 2.8 liter TBI V-6. It seems to stall when I turn the wheel all the way to the right or left and I have low oil pressure. This only does it when the engine is warmed up or running for a while. When It is cold it runs perfect. Turned the idle up but that did not help at all.
What would be your solution to this problem. The check gauge light flickers on and off or sometimes stays on for an amount of time. Please help if you can.
Sincerely,
MarleneA. The low oil pressure will shut off the fuel pump. Sounds like the main problem to me is the oil pressure. I think if it was okay, you would not be stalling out. As for where the oil pressure loss is, main bearings have too much clearance, oil pump weak, cam bearings, you name it. The engine could just be worn out. If the car is clean, it may be worth a new GM engine. I know they offer a new 3.1 liter direct bolt in replacement engine for your car. If there is no strange sounds from engine like a knock or tapping) possibly the oil pressure sender could be bad causing all this trouble too.
