BMW 735i Eating Radiators

Q. The radiator was replaced 3 years ago. The mechanic who replaced the radiator states that a new one is needed. The car is driven in Phoenix, AZ and he stated that heat can shorten the life of a radiator. He also said that specific model has radiator problems surrounding it. I saw nothing on alldata.com in regards to radiator problem. Is this possible? 3 years and a new radiator? Thank You, Aaron

BMW 735i Eating Radiators

A. It is possible. There are many factors involved. Was the radiator an original equipment replacement or a cheaper aftermarket part? Additionally, the water is very hard in your neck of the woods. Calcium or lime scale build up in the core can happen very rapidly there, and plug up a radiator in very little time.

f my years in the southwest taught me anything it was to spend the money on distilled water to fill cooling systems which prevents the crippling build up in the radiator and cooling system.
