Accord Uses Oil

Q. Hi, I have a Honda Accord EX (1990, 4 cylinder), the problem is every 4-500 miles I have to add a bottle of motor oil, every day I do check my drive way, there is no motor oil on the ground, so no leaking problem. When I went to auto shop to repair, the technician suggested change engine gasket and rubber, and change transmission seal (I don't know what's that for?) too.

But still have same problem. By the way I still change motor oil for every 3000 miles, Again I need your help? your timely response will very appreciate.

Thank You,
Frank

A. I don't know what he means by "change engine gasket and rubber" and a transmission seal would have nothing to do with motor oil.

If the vehicle is using a quart of oil every 400 to 500 miles, you would have a noticeable leak or blue cloud from the exhaust since the only two ways for oil to leave an engine is leaking out or burning.

Since you see no leaks, then it has to be burning it. A wet/dry compression test will tell if it is the valve seals or bad rings.
