Jeep Cherokee Pulls Left
Q. Hi Vincent, I own a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo inline 6 with all wheel drive. I have two problems. The first is when driving it pulls hard to the left I'm constantly sawing at the wheel to keep it straight. When turning the front wheels seem to fight against each other.
I had the front end aligned replaced all the ball joints, the tie rods, drag link, the steering dampener and the spindles. Nothing worked, than I took the front drive shaft off just to see what it would do. IT DROVE STRAIGHT. I don't know what else to check, and I really need that four wheel drive. Winter is real nasty up here.
My second problem is when trying to start in the morning, it takes a lot of cranks before it will start. About four to five times it takes before it starts. could it be a bad fuel pump, relay or something in the fuel rail? Please help me.
Thanks,
DaveA. The problem is in the front differential. It's going to have to be opened up and inspect to see what is wrong. Also make SURE it's not in 4WD.
The best thing to do is to put hook up a fuel pressure gauge over night to see if the fuel pressure drops to zero. If it does then you know you have a fuel problem. Most likely a fuel pump check valve.
If you don't have a fuel pressure tester, do this. In the morning turn the key to the START position but do not start the engine. Listen to the fuel pump and when it shuts off, turn the key OFF. Repeat this four or five times and then start the engine. If it starts right up you're losing fuel pressure.
