Ford Aerostar Dies Every So Often

Q. I have a 1993 Ford Aerostar van. We've had a continuous intermittent problem for about the past year and a half that the mechanics can't find. While driving the van will start to "buck". It feels like it's gas flow is being interrupted, usually when driving at full speed.

It gets very bad for a while, then stops, and will drive fine for sometimes months at a time, then it will start again. Now it's very bad, doing it at all speeds, and even stalling out stopped. We had it in to the garage last week, and as usual, it drove great for them, and they couldn't find anything wrong. As soon as we got it back it started right back up. Is this anything you've come across before.

Thanks,
Dennis

A. This is usually caused by a fuel pump going bad Dennis. You didn't say if it dies when this happens. If it does then shoot a shot of gas into the intake. If it starts then you confirmed it. In the mean time I would look at all the electrical connectors and make sure they are clean and tight.
