Toyota Corolla No Start
Q. Hi Vincent, The details of my car are as below:
1996 Toyota Corolla DX
1.8 liter
Automatic transmission
75,000 miles
Fuel InjectionI do get starting problems sometimes. I turn on the ignition, I hear the sound that one generally hears if the battery is down. (The clicking sound.) There is no problem with battery draining off as it happens anytime during the day and not just when the car has been left unused overnight.
I try a couple of times, stop for a few moments and try again the car starts without any problems. I don't have to even try and crank it. Can you please give me some fair idea of what this could be. I have not yet taken the car to the mechanic as it does start and I have not had serious problems.
Thanks and best regards,
AnandA. I would start with the battery connections. Take them off, clean the terminals and battery posts and reconnect the terminals making sure they are nice and tight. Also check the fusible links and make sure they are good and the connections are clean and tight.
If you still have problems, I would get the charging system checked and the battery load tested. If that's good, then it is probably a bad starter.
