Pontiac Grand Prix Turn Signal Problem

Q. I drive a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix; the car is currently having electrical problems. Whenever I use my turn signals all the lights in the dashboard blink on and off and then the car dies. Note: car works fine, problem only occurs when I use my turn signals. I have checked all the fuses, all the light bulbs, battery. Is okay. Voltages are normal.

Pontiac Grand Prix Turn Signal Problem

The only thing that I have not checked is the voltage regulator and alternator. Problem does not drain the battery. Car starts fine after problem occurs. I drive the car every day so I know it's not a mechanical problem. Your comments will be appreciated.

A. You may have a short in the cluster, but I would think that it would do it with dash lights as well. Also you may have a problem with the ignition switch which is near the turn signal lever. Have you tried to tilt the column to see if it cuts out? Also don't assume the battery connection is good. Take both cables off and check them. There have been lots of problems with the positive terminals cracking and leaking acid into the positive cable causing high resistance.
