Pontiac Sunfire Fuel Pump Replacement Q. Where is the fuel pump and how do I get at it to replace it? 1996 Pontiac Sunfire 2.2 liter Automatic transmission

A. The fuel pump is in the fuel tank and the tank needs to come out to replace the pump. Not a do-it-yourself job if you ask me. There are just too many things to go wrong trying to pull a tank on your back in a driveway.

Also the "quick connect" fittings can sometimes be a pain for someone who doesn't know how to get them apart and I've seen a couple of cars towed in with messed up fittings and they had to buy new lines all the way to the engine.
