Acura Integra Has Uneven Brake Wear
Q. Hi there, I just replace the front disc brake pads on my 1989 Acura Integra. It was making that striker noise on the right front pad. It took me a while to figure out the noise but I finally did. So I replaced the pads. I noticed that there was a lot more wear on the right front pads than on the left front pads.
The car does not pull to either side when braking so I’m trying to figure out what could cause the difference. The old pads were replaced as a pair the last time they were done. Any Ideas? These are not ABS brakes and the car is an automatic with front wheel drive.
Also I bleed off some fluid when I compressed the caliper with a C-clamp. Would this introduce air into the system? Should I bleed the off all the brakes now?
Thanks,
RogerA.
Uneven brake wear is almost always due to calipers not being able to move freely on the caliper slides. That's why it is important to clean off any rust or dirt on the slides and make sure they are well lubricated with a high temperature brake lube.It shouldn't introduce air into the brake system. In any event I always bleed the brakes at all four wheels every time I do brakes, either if I just do fronts or rears.
