Ford Taurus Front Wheel Bearings

Q. Vincent, The car is an 1988 Ford Taurus wagon with a 3.0 liter, automatic transmission and 150,000 miles. I would like to know the procedure for replacing front wheel bearings the easiest and quickest way. I have not been able to acquire a Haynes repair book for this vehicle.

Thank you,
John

Ford Taurus Front Wheel Bearings

A. You need a number of special tools and a hydraulic press to remove the bearings. The best thing to do is to remove the knuckle assembly, take it to a machine shop and have them press the old bearings out and the new ones in.

There is a Chilton's Ford Taurus/Sable: 1986-95 Repair Manual which you can order from Amazon.com.
