Sluggish Explorer Peeing ATF
Q. Hi, I have two problems. I had a rebuilt engine installed about a year ago and the shop went out of business. The engine runs okay, but after five minutes of driving, loses a lot of power (worse when hot out). I am trying to figure out if its the engine or the torque converter.
This leads to the other problem: there has been a major ATF leak since the new engine was installed. I am having trouble pinpointing the leak (not from the pan), and it only seems to happen after the car sits. I wonder if they messed up the seal on the torque converter? Could this cause both problems?
My other idea is that they bumped the ATF filler tube when reinstalling the engine. In any case, I have to put in a quart every couple days and it really makes a mess. Can you help?

Thanks!!!!!!
RobA.I don't understand why, if you had this leak since the engine was installed, you didn't go back the next day and have them fix it. Unless they went out of business the day after you picked up the truck.
If the leak is coming from a damaged dipstick tube, that would be pretty easy to see. If the leak is coming from between the engine and transmission, then it could be a torque converter seal or front pump seal..
As for the loss of power, first thing I would do is replace the fuel filter.
