Clicking And Dying Colt
Q. Dear Mr. Ciulla, I drive a 1991 Dodge Colt 100E and it has 150,000 kilometers. I have a strange problem that I hope too gain some insight into. What happens is, while driving there begins a clicking, sounds like some sort of relay switch and it sounds like it's coming from behind me. Then the engine dies and I loose all power.
Of course this causes the dash to light up and I manually steer the car off the road as I coast to a stop. Then I turn off the electrical by turning the key to the off position, wait ten seconds, fire it up and off I drive. It doesn't seem to matter the temperature outside, weather conditions or speed to act up. Someone mentioned that the fuel pump could be at fault intermittently!!?? Have you heard of this and do you have any ideas on a fix?
Thank you,
BarryA. I don't know Barry, the only thing located behind the drivers seat is the fuel pump. It's very possible that is what you are hearing.
