Chevy Cavalier Taking On Water

Q. I own a 1992 Chevy Cavalier with around 120,000 miles on it. I bought the car on the hottest day of the year and the next three days it poured. I found out that my car leaks, a lot. I find buckets of water on the floor of my car after any measurable rain. I've looked all over my car and I have yet to find where that much water might come in.

Chevy Cavalier Taking On Water

Water comes in whether I'm driving or the car is parked. My car is not a convertible. Have you ever seen this problem before? Can you give me any advice?

A. Water leaks are one of the hardest things to find. Most times it's a bad seal at the windshield. But it may also be coming in through bad seams in the firewall or HVAC box. Even the door seals can leak.

The best way and the hardest way is by removing all interior parts and rug and sitting inside it with a flashlight while someone sprays a hose on car while you look for any points of entry.
