Dodge Colt Service Manuals
Q. Dear Sir, I am teaching myself auto mechanics and find your site to be EXCELLENT! I have a 1989 Dodge Colt, 1.6 liter engine, automatic transmission, 30,000 kilometers, carburetor. I would like to learn how to do a FULL tuneup (well limited, I have a voltmeter) for example inspect and clean the spark plugs, change the oil, etc.
My library has no books relating to this car. I have printed the spark plug images from your web site etc. I need to find resources that have diagrams showing where the spark plugs are located, how to and what to use to clean them; how to do an oil change, etc. Sort of general diagrams for that year of import cars.
I *obviously* am a complete beginner but have recently become very interested in auto mechanics and feel that I *should* be able to do some of the basic maintenance checks and chores. Also, I would like to be able to adjust the idle (as when it is warmed up it idles at less than 500 RPM and I thought this is too low?) THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE! Again, your site has been very helpful to me.
Sincerely,
TanyaA. As much as I admire your spirit and enthusiasm Tanya, there is no way I could teach you what you want to know in this limited space.
If you go to your libraries main facility, they will have the service manuals in their reference section. I also found a set of factory service manuals on Ebay. 1989 Dodge Colt Summit 3 Factory Shop Manuals. And that's a good price for them too.
