Sable A/C In-Op

Q. I own a 1990 Mercury Sable. My A/C doesn't work. I'm just wondering if there's a fuse somewhere in the car for the A/C that I can't find? When I turn on the A/C, the compressor does not kick on like it used to. Or do I may just need a new compressor?

Thank you,
Marco

A. Fuse #17 (blue 15 amp) is what supplies power to the A/C compressor clutch. It is in the top row, next to the turn signal flasher.

If the fuse is good unplug the Low/high pressure switch and jump the harness connectors. If the compressor clutch kicks on, you have insufficient refrigerant in the system to run the system. Since this proves the electrical portion of the system os good, you will have to take it to a shop that does A/C work and have the system recharged. And since the refrigerant leaked out, the cause of the leak must be repaired first.
