Firenza Won't Start

Q. We have a Olds Firenza that we are having trouble with the car not starting. Daughter took car to school in the am, when she shut car off; everything was fine. When she returned to leave, car would not start. Just turned over. We know it's getting gas to carburetor, can see and smell.

We changed the distributor cap, rotor and had module. Checked that has wires that is in the distributor cap. Still not getting any spark. Changed ignition switch about 10 months ago. Inside, the coil wire looks a little rusty. Does it need to be replaced or can it be cleaned someway?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

A. I would suspect the coil has gone bad on her. This was common on those GM ignition systems. Also the pick up coils inside the distributor have been known to go bad as well.
