Ford Mustang Squeals Like A Pig
Q. My daughter has a 1995 Ford Mustang 3.8 liter V-6, manual transmission with 105,000 miles. Last October it started making a squealing noise whenever the steering wheel is turned either right or left. We have been told that it is her struts and that replacing them would not fix the problem because "it's a Ford" and they just do that. Is this correct or would replacing them do the trick?
Thanks for your help,
BrendaA.
Usually a squealing type noise when turning the steering wheel is due to the power steering belt slipping. If it makes the noise every time the wheel is turned, and it makes the noise standing still, try this; when the noise is happening, spray the belt(s) with belt dressing (available at all parts stores) and if the noise goes away, you know it's the belt(s).The "it's a Ford" is a pretty lame excuse, in my opinion. I would find a mechanic who doesn't use expressions like that.
