Ford Explorer Power Problem?
Q. I have a 1998 Ford Explorer 4.0 liter EFI with electrical problems. I recently realized that the left hand turn signals were not working and a mechanic discovered that the rear A/C blower was also not working. He suggested that the left side of the fuse panel was not getting electricity, but could not fix it or trace the problem.
Does this sound correct to you? How do I fix this problem? If this is not correct, where do I start to trace the system for a short?
Thank you for your help...
A. If he has confirmed this, and it is a possibility, then we have to look at the power supply to the fuse box. There is a power distribution box under the hood that feeds power to the inside fuse box. The fault is probably there. Most likely a blown Maxi-Fuse.
However, that may be as it is, but that would not explain why only the left turn signals work. If it were a lack of power, none of the turn signals would work. I think the turn signal problem and the rear blower motor problem are two separate problems, in addition to the possible fuse box problem. I would take this to a Ford Dealer and let them investigate.
