Non-Blinking Blinkers
Q. My problem seems to be with my turn signals, when I put the right signal on, the light on the dash is frozen. When I turn on the left turn signal, it blinks. I put the right one on and looked at the front signal on the outside of the car and the same for the rear.

Both lights are on, but not blinking, is this a case of the bulb, or is it more extensive than that. Any input would be appreciated. 1992 Buick LeSabre.
Is this something I could repair myself, right now I have an appointment with a dealer for next week.
Thank You,
Don
A. There are two possibilities here Don, either a bulb is burnt out or the flasher unit itself is bad.
When you check the bulbs, be sure they are the right type. It's easy to get them mixed up. Also, check the marker lights for burnt out bulbs as well. Many cars today have the marker lights tied in with the turn signals. Turn on the left signal and note which bulbs are blinking, then turn on the right side and check all of those bulbs. Be careful of the rear bulbs. Most often a rear siganl will use more than one bulb. So one bulb could be out and the remaining one will make it look like it's on.
If the bulbs are good then you will need to replace the turn signal flasher unit. On all 1992 - 1994 models except Cadillac, the turn signal flasher is located below the instrument panel on top of the left hand shroud.
