Ford Taurus ABS And A Bulb

Q. Mr Ciulla, I spoke to you months ago about a Nissan 240-SX that unfortunately since has died. I replaced it with a 1994 Ford Taurus. My question is just for my own information. This car supposedly has ABS braking system, how do I know for sure if it has such? And secondly, it's supposed to have interior dome lights that turn on when you open the door.

It has map lights on the dome that work, but no lights come on when you open the door. I looked under the lens and can see the two map lights and in the middle there is a long connection that looks like maybe a light may fit in there, but I cannot find out what light (if any goes there). I appreciated all your help with my Nissan 240-SX and hope you can answer these trivial questions for me about the Taurus.

Thanks,
Carol

A. No question too trivial to ask Carol. In fact, the only stupid question is the one that goes unasked.

As for the dome light, you know where it goes and it just pops in. So drive by the Ford dealer, tell them you need a dome light bulb and they will give you the correct one. Then just pop it in.

If you have Anti-Lock Brakes, you will have a red warning light, number 15, in the instrument cluster as shown below. Since ABS was an option, the spot is used by the ABS and blank if it doesn't.
