Ford Windstar Front A/C Not Cold
Q. Hi, We have a 2000 Ford Windstar with Air Conditioning Problems. It has front and rear air. The rear air works great! Very cold blows right. The front air blows, but does not get cold. We have to use two of the rear air vents, from the ceiling of the van, and point them up front to survive. Can you please help us with this? We haven’t got a clue why the rear would work and the front doesn’t.

Ford made this a complicated system, in my opinion, more complicated than it has to be. But then again, what do I know? Anyway, there are self-diagnostics built into the HVAC system but you need a scan tool to get them.I suspect either a bad blend door motor or Climate Control Assembly. The A/C heater function selector switch combines a vacuum selector valve for direct control of the vacuum control motors and electrical input to the instrument cluster module.
Ford has had some problems with blend door actuators so I think this is a good possibility. You should have a Ford Dealer scan the system to confirm this.
