Drowned Jeep Wrangler??
Q. I just brought my Jeep into the dealer because water got into the transfer case and froze (due apparently to submerging the car in water, which I have not done). They have said it's not covered under warranty, because if I went through a puddle that's my fault (??) But my question is this: I do not off-road. How could water get into the transfer case if it's not faulty?
I live in NY (rain, snow etc.). The car that they market climbing hills, and going through streams, but their standard equipment is not built to go through a puddle?
- 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport
- 6 cylinder
- Manual transmission
- 15,000 miles
- Fuel Injection
- ABS brakes
Thanks in advance...
A. Water is not supposed to be able to get inside the transfer case. There is a vent on the very top of the transfer case, but it's designed not to let water in.
How the water got in, I haven't a clue since you say you don't off roar with it. I would call Chrysler and arrange a meeting with the Factory Representative and discuss it with him. I'm almost sure he will cover it for you.
