Cavaliers Not Too Bright

Q. I have a 1990 Chevy Cavalier Z24. My switch to brighten and lower my instrument panel lights broke so I ordered a new one but it doesn't work. I checked the fuses and it's good and the switch is good so what could it be? Also in the panel itself is there a bulb in there that lights it up? How often does the bulb blow? And how can I change the bulb?

Thanks

A. There is not just one bulb, there are four or five bulbs. You don't say whether it's a digital dash or not. Either way, there should be illumination bulbs in there that are probably all burned out. They are special bulbs. If you put wrong the bulbs in, you run the risk of burning out the printed circuit.
