Chrysler LHS Dies But Starts Right Up
Q. My problem is on a 1994 Chrysler LHS, 3.5 fuel injected engine. Automatic transmission, 129,900 miles, P/S, ABS brakes, rack and pinion steering. The car starts and runs fine until you have driven a few miles, 20 to 30, sometimes more sometimes less, then it shuts down. You can put it in neutral and restart within four or five seconds.
It will continue to run fine until the same thing happens again. The weather can be fine it doesn't matter but with time it will stop somewhere along the way. The engine just dies, no sounds or vibrations. So far it has always started right back up. I had the fuel pump checked for pressure and it is just fine. I'm thinking electrical problem or bare wire but have no idea really. Help!!
Thanks,
BobA. This is going to be pretty difficult to diagnose since the window of troubleshooting is so small. You can try pulling codes from the computer to see if there are any. If there are that would be a big help in going in the right direction.
See Diagnostic Trouble Codes for instructions on retrieving the codes and what they mean.
From what you describe I would think it could be a bad Camshaft Position Sensor or Crankshaft Position Sensor.
