Ford Taurus Door Switch Stuck

Q. I read the answers for Door Ajar Again, thinking that may be why the interior lights of my 1992 Ford Taurus will not go off. To keep the lights off we have been taking the fuse out. My father reminded me that the dimmer switch had previously had a short. Sometimes the lights would come on while we were driving but we could always turn the dimmer switch off. Now that doesn't work.

Ford Taurus Door Switch Stuck

Also after a personal inspection of all the doors I found that the response switch in one of the rear doors was jammed. I am not quite sure which is causing the problems. Any help you can give me will be very much appreciated.

A. I think I would start with the door switch that is jammed. With all of the other doors closed, try spraying some silicone lubricant on it and working it back and forth manually.

If you get no response, remove that particular switch an disconnect the harness plug from it. If the light shuts off, you’ve found your problem and you can replace that particular switch at your leisure.
