Honda Prelude Brake Shimmy

Q. Vincent, Hello I drive a; 1989 Honda Prelude SI, automatic transmission with 176,000 miles. My problem is this, When stopping, my steering wheel shakes, left, right, left, right, etc... I was told my rotors could be warped and would need turning. Besides warped rotors, what else could cause this problem? Any info you provide would be appreciated.

Thank you,
Gene

Honda Prelude Brake Shimmy

A. It is most likely warped rotors. But it could also be bad wheel bearings or loose front end parts. Since that has rack and pinion steering, that consists of inner and outer tie rod ends. At 176,000 miles I wouldn't discount a bad rack. All of these are pretty easy to diagnose.
