Chevy Blazer Is Always Cranky
Q. I have a 1987 Full-Size Chevy Blazer. Upon attempting to start it yesterday, I cranked it for about 7 seconds. Then was going to let it rest, but when I turned the key back, it kept on cranking, and continued even after I pulled the key out. I think it is probably a good thing it didn't start. By the time I could take the battery cable off, it was dead.
What could be the cause of this? I had started it a couple weeks ago and everything seemed fine. I didn't move any wires.
Please Advise,

You need to trace the purple wire to the starter solenoid for being powered up all the time. First, I would touch the battery cable to see if it still wants too crank. If so, remove the purple wire from starter so it won't run down battery. Then put a test light on this wire and hook up the battery. It should not be lit unless you turn the key to crank. If it is lit, you will need to trace the system back to the source of why. Maybe a bad ignition switch or power jumped to the "crank" fuse?
