Chevy Cavalier Transmission Slipping Q. Hi! I am writing from Dominican Republic! I own a 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 liter. The problem is that since last week I can't get more than 80 kph without getting 5,000 rpm! When in a traffic light, drive mode, I don't need to use the brakes to keep the car stopped! A. Is the transmission fluid full and a nice bright red? You may have a burnt clutch pack inside the transmission.
