Buick Regal ACC Problems

Q. Hi There, I have a 1997 Buick Regal Gran Sport, 80,000 miles. It has the 3.8 liter supercharged engine. My problem is with the ACC. At least I think it is. The car has been to the dealership and they advise me that nothing is wrong. The car will be fine for several days or a week maybe more then with no action from my part the A/C or heater blower will come on and drain the battery.

Buick Regal ACC Problems

This happens with all systems turned off the and the car locked. We drove the car today and on one of our stops we had just turned the engine off and was getting out of the car and the blower came on. When the car is acting up this way I can not turn the A/C off with the Manual button on the controller.

When I first became aware of this problem I went to start the car and the battery was dead. I put my jumper on and when I did the blower motor started blowing. The key was off but the blower was running. That is when I took it to the dealership and had it checked. The tech said that I had left a map light on and ran the battery down.

If you have a suggestion I am all ears. I now have to disconnect the battery every time I park the car, not a lot of fun.

Thank You in Advance,
Ken

A. I would drive it to the dealer and ask the service manager to go for a ride with you, make sure you can duplicate the problem. It sounds like it's getting progressively worse.

Tell him that the car was not fixed right the first time and that you are willing to leave it with them for a reasonable amount of time so they can drive it enough to get the condition to present itself. Then they should be able to fix it. Sounds like a bad control head but this could be an expensive guess.
