Pontiac Grand Am Transmission Q. Hello, I have a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4 liter QUAD4 and the engine and transmission need to be replaced. I know where to get a 1992 Grand Am Quad4 and I would like to know if that engine and transmission would go into my 1996 Pontiac Grand Am without having to change all the wiring? Thank you...

A. I'm almost positive that something will be different between these years. The engine should be basically the same and you may be able to swap intake manifolds and fuel rails if the two are different. The transmission may be electronic controlled on the newer one and that would be a real nightmare to wire up unless you swapped the whole cradle, harness and ECM unit with it.
