Ford Windstar Cruise Control

Q. I have a 1995 Ford Windstar 3.8 with Automatic transmission and 72,000 miles. For some reason the cruise control just stopped working. I have checked the main 25 amp fuse and it is good. One of the main problems with this set up is that the van did not come with a dash light to tell you when the cruise is turned on.

I have taken the switches apart on the steering wheel and cleaned them and also, have tried using the cruise with the plastic off the buttons (to ensure that they are engaged). I still have no cruise and am wondering how a layman can troubleshoot this further. I am good with electrical work, but need to know what I am testing. If you could help me out I would really appreciate it.

Jason

A. The cruise control troubleshooting is a couple of pages long. I think what I have below will get you through it as long as you go step by step and don't deviate from the procedure.
