Malibu Turn Signal Problem

Q. I've got a 2000 Chevy Malibu LS. The turn signals and hazards will intermittently stop working. When they stop working there will be an chattering sound from the middle of the dash (above the radio), which sounds as if they are trying to work. I think the flasher unit may be going bad, but I am not sure and I do not know where to look for the unit. Help me please.

A. Your car does not have a Turn Signal Flasher unit. The turn signals are controlled by the Body Control Module (BCM). Since the only way the BCM can be tested is with a scan tool, you will need to take it into a GM Dealer. A 2000 model car should still be covered under warranty.
